后来花了100多块找专业公司写了一份,也许是巧合,在一个月之内有两次interview的机会。最后两份工作都给了我OFFER。在这里我就不说是哪一家公司了,免得有做广告嫌疑。其实每一家的CV公司都差不了太多,所以大家在这方面的钱就不要省了。专业公司要用1个小时的interview来了解你的Skill and Qualification,然后再提你量身定做。有一些可能你认为不是什么有用的skill他们会给你写出来,让你有一种不可思议的感觉。四个字:非常专业。不要小看了CV的作用,一份好的CV会给你带来interview的机会,只有有了interview的机会,你才能够成功的把自己推销出去。

  我相信大部分留学生都是非常有能力的,只是苦于没有interview的机会来推销自己,展现自己的能力,白白的浪费了很多时间和精力。工作后,我有所感触,我们公司今年年初的时候招聘Accounts assistant,我们收到了100多份CV,我们用了2个多小时的时间preliminary出10几份出来,然后有从这10几份中shortlist 4个人来interview.平均下来,在每份CV上花的时间还不到2分钟。可见一份好的CV必须要引起employer的兴趣来读。我还记得专业公司和我聊天的时候,我问了一些有关于CV的问题.她说一篇好的CV的关键就在the first and half page.前一页半是引起employer注意的,你有什么好的attributes and skills that can offer and contribute to their organisation,and then backing up with your working experiences that could demonstrate your attributes and skills.

  我在工作后在我们的social drinking时曾经问过我的general manager,为什么你当时选我?她说the attributes and skills such as you research and analysis ability in your cv were what I wanted. I need someone who can understand business and the even think outside the square to achieve results. 然后我接着问她大多数留学生都关心的问题.did you mind hiring chinese because I knew quite a few employers did mind hiring chinese? she said: I didn't. 可见并不是所有的雇主都不雇佣中国人.我会把一些accounting专业常见的skills and attributes挂出来给大家借鉴.不过我的建议是大家不要都copy下来然后放到自己的CV中就算是完成了,CV是unique的,还是寻求一些专业建议比较好。

accounting major常用的一些key compentency:

  • articulate verbal and astute written communication skills - experience preparing management reports, financial and statistical data
  • risk management - identifies and assesses potential problems, applies sound economic knowledge, budgeting, planning and costing skills to implement effective solutions
  • financial management skills:
        financial accounting
        corporate finance
        management accounting
  • numerical / analytical skills - confident researching, analysing, interpreting and presenting financial data - strengths in statistical analysis strategic vision and operational planning - generates and implements a positive view of the future - encourages involvement and team support
  • relationship management - builds and maintains trust, rapport and confidence with others at all levels
  • operational management, including budgeting, co-ordination and administration, reporting to committees and management
  • computer literate:  microsoft office suite (advanced excel); internet and e-mail browser; windows xp and 2000, myob, comacc payroll, quickens and quickbooks.
common personal attributes:
  • sound communication skills
  • models commitment, integrity and diligence
  • enjoys increasing responsibilities and challenges
  • able to identify potential problems and productive solutions
  • actively plans and organises to succeed
  • builds quality relationships at all levels
  • supportive team leader / member
  • values efforts and input from others
  切记:must be backing up with your own working or life experiences for the above skills and attributes

  当你的CV敲开了企业大门的时候,也就是说你已经和其他几个candidate站在同一起跑线上了,你的skills, attributes, work experience and qualification已经得到了肯定,基本上match job specification。接下来就是看你的interview发挥的水平了。interview的技巧在大多数的网站上都有,seek,jobstuff,还有一些猎头公司的网上都会有的。一般的来讲,一些大的公司,他们着重与一些behavioural  question。问题譬如:give me an example how you use your initiative to solve a problem; give an example how you cope a difficulty;等等。他们注重的是你如何回答的这个问题,而不是结果。不过一定要用例子,哪怕是编出来的也可以。所以interview preparation 是非常重要的。而在回答这些问题的时候,一定要反映出你的personal merits. such as : your ability to learn; fast learner; team work; integrity; work under pressure 等等。如果有工作经验的,一定要用你工作中的例子,again, they will never go back and check those examples you gave them. 所以你可以根据自己的情况来稍做改编。不过一些小的公司就比较注重你的实践能力,这方面只有通过工作经验来证明。在英文方面,大家一定要多练习提高自己英文水平。口语在interview的时候是非常重要的。在interview过程中,不要说的太快,只要说的清晰就好。
