We're looking for a hands-on Laboratory Technician / Plant Operator to support our operations across Wanaka and Cromwell.

This diverse role combines laboratory testing, quality assurance, concrete batching, and general plant operations. You'll play a critical role in ensuring our concrete products meet New Zealand standards, customer specifications, and Firth's industry-leading quality requirements, while also supporting day-to-day plant operations as business needs require. This role suits someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in accuracy, and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves when needed.

What you'll be doing

• Sampling and testing raw materials and concrete products
• Conducting quality assurance testing and recording results accurately
• Supporting certification requirements and compliance with industry standards
• Batching concrete and loading trucks to meet customer demand
• Coordinating with production and dispatch teams to support on-time deliveries
• Assisting with specialised product trials and continuous improvement initiatives
• Monitoring plant equipment and reporting maintenance requirements
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, safety, and environmental compliance
• Providing excellent service to customers and internal stakeholders
• Supporting wider plant activities as required.

What you'll bring

• Experience in laboratory testing, quality control, manufacturing, construction, civil, quarry, or production environments
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
• Good computer, literacy and numeracy skills
• A strong focus on health and safety
• A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to support across different areas of the plant
• Great communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
